Boost the children Brand ID’s

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Within the CRAVE network we have met great, creative and very ambitious entrepreneurs. We know that clothing for children is big business, but these women cary a great more than the commerial heart. We have Rianne founder of KOE & BOE (CRAVE page 114) who educates about the farming life, since children hardly know anything about it these days . All clothes are made from organic cotton and made in a sustainable manner. Gea & Susan are both experienced fashion designers who decided to create their own brand for children by the name PEAPLE(CRAVE page 158). The brand stands for People and Planet and Pea which means peanut which is a symbol for organic. Both KOE & BOE en Peaple are currently looking for retailers who will represent and sell their children brands. If you are interested please contact them! Are you selling baby & children clothes and are you left with access supplies? Clean the corners in your shop before the end of this year and donate all you want to Mumsmarket(CRAVE page 152). CRAVE entrepreneur Lisa, sells all the donated new left over clothes to collect money for charity. SO, are you still looking for that babyshower gift item? Take a look at mumsmarket and realize a win-win situation.

Jonge Gezinnen Beurs is Big Business!

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Yesterday, CRAVE visited the Jonge Gezinnen Beurs 2010 in the trade mart Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. The fair is for pregnant women and mothers of babies and toddlers. It’s big business because a lot of emotions are exchanged for sweet and expansive baby ware.  A few CRAVE Business women are present:

Meetup with Liza from MumsMarket

Liza Hollingsworth of Mumsmarket sells new baby and childrenswear that is donated by fashion brands to create funding for charities. Her webshop gives every mom a good reason to buy because you choose yourself to which charity you want your spending to be donated to. The tradefair sponsors are helping Liza to sell the clothes, but much more can be found online at www.mumsmarket.nl. Are you a producer or retailer with a stack of left overs? Make sure you connect with Liza and gain value for mothers and charities.

Busy times for Mira’s Trotse Moeders & Club van slechte huisvrouwen

Mira Ahles owns the community of proud mothers and she offers a place for dialogues on babycare and motherhood. In addition she sells all kinds of smart and loving baby gadgets. The stand is big and busy and Mira flies like a fairy across the place. Her proudness of motherhood moved into a confession of being a bad housewife. Simply because her heart is with working and caring and not so much with cleaning and washing. The confession turned into a big discussion and an even into a large blogging community of women alike. And that’s what Mira does, connecting women through online media.

Consults for the mind and the mood

There are various pavilions that entertain you with learning and doing. CRAVE visited Susan Gorel, a booth in the spiritual pavilion, that used integrated numerology, astrology and tarot to give personal insights. Let’s say that in summary is that CRAVE Amsterdam is about to become one of a kind. The second consult was a workshop for styling tips for parties and seasonal events like Christmas. We enjoyed the tips on how to decorate a dining table and practiced with styling a napkin. We will reveal one secret, less is more! Find out more info on their website.

CRAVE life connections

Many fairs are a pleasure to visit since it’s all about inspiration and connecting with people alike. CRAVE will visit some more “beurzen”. Let us know where you will be present so we can announce it and we may visit you. CRAVE will be present at the Sustainable lifestyle event Indisha together with A beautiful Story and Lotus Living on November 21st in Amsterdam. Meet up?

Planning a Fun in the Sun Picnic

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Food always seems to taste better when enjoyed outdoors and in the company of great friends and family. So, pack your picnic basket, grab a blanket, bring some companions, and take advantage of the sunny warm weather the spring and summer months have to offer with an al fresco dining experience! Don’t sweat, planning a picnic doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Here are some fun and fuss-free ideas for planning a picnic in the fresh air and sunshine!

1. Pick a Location:

  • At the Park: Whether you’re on a grassy spot in the sunlight or under the shade of a tree, a park is the perfect place to gather for a picnic! If you’re feeling guilty about leaving your beloved pooch at home, there are plenty of pet-friendly parks so you can bring Fido along!
  • On a Beach: Sun, sea, and sand is the ideal combination for a picnic on the beach! Just make sure you enjoy each element separately to avoid melted, soggy, or grainy grub.
  • In Your Backyard: Want to enjoy a meal outside but don’t feel like hauling a basket or cooler full of food around? No problem, a picnic in your backyard can be just as fun and probably less stressful if you happen to forget the napkins!
  • On a Roof-top Patio: For those of you dwelling in the concrete jungle, many apartment and condo buildings have a roof-top patio for their residents to enjoy. The only difference? Rather than being surrounded by trees, you have adjacent skyscrapers to provide shade.

2. Picnic Menu Items:

We encourage you to be creative, but to also keep things simple with your picnic menu! Remember, you have to schlep these baskets around with limited heating or cooling available, and food poisoning is never included in the recipe for fun. Pack your picnic baskets with these simple palate pleasers, bon appetit!

  • Savor: Definitely use your left-overs when you can! Roasted chicken can be used to make a yummy pasta or Caesar salad. You can also make some simple PB&J or turkey sandwiches the night before and refrigerate them until you’re ready to head out. Soft bagels with cream cheese are also a great and effortless menu option. Here are some other easy picnic recipes to consider.
  • Sip: Class up your picnic with a bottle of wine to sip while you savor your meal, which is ideal if you’re enjoying a laid-back picnic on your backyard porch. For public parks and beaches, we recommend some bubbly and refreshing sparkling apple cider instead. Lemonade is also the classic beverage of choice for a sunny spring/summer picnic.
  • Sweets: You can’t go wrong with brownies and cookies, which are crowd-pleasers for any age. A fresh fruit salad is delicious and nutritious, and also surprisingly portable! We generally don’t recommend packing anything that melts quickly, but if you’re having a backyard picnic you can get away with serving ice cream and popsicles!

3. Picnic Essentials NOT to Forget:

  • Sunscreen/sun block: Don’t ruin your outdoor picnic with a painful sunburn, keep yourself sun protected! As the people from the land down under would say, “Slip, Slop, Slap: slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, and slap on a hat.”
  • Insect repellant: A good idea if you’re going to be outdoors long enough for the mosquitoes to come out for their own picnic.
  • Big quilt/blanket: If you’re going to be dining on the grass, sit on a big quilt or blanket to protect yourself from ants in your pants, or even worse, in your food!
  • Eating utensils: Finger food is always fun, but if you plan on serving something that requires a fork, spoon, or knife, eating with your bare hands will get messy and complicated.
  • Plastic bag(s): Be considerate of others and the park in which you are enjoying your picnic and clean up any trash or food waste. Also, if your pooch joined you for your picnic, please pick up behind your pawed pal as well.
  • Anti-bacterial hand gel/wipes: Ahh, germs! Need we say more?
  • Entertainment: Don’t dine and dash, stay a while! Bring some playing cards, a Frisbee, or play bocce ball while your tummies digest.
