« Read the full blog

Every business woman has strengths and weaknesses. At the last CRAVE chat, Outsource Weakness and Embrace Strength, we talked about what to do with both. We had a group of amazing woman who shared fabulous ideas and tips. For those of you who couldn’t make it to the chat, we’ve put together a list of our top 10 favorite topics from the chat.

1. Outsourcing is a smart thing to do because it can create a long distance partnership.

When you outsource, you are creating a long distance partnership with someone. You are making it so that you can grow as a company, while helping someone else’s company to grow at the same time.

2. Social media can help you grow by getting the word out for free.

Free is the key phrase here. You can Tweet to spread the news about events and use Facebook for your advertising. You’ll save yourself some money and get the ball rolling on word of mouth marketing for your business.

3. Interns are a fabulous way to outsource – they can help you do things that you may not have time for.

Intern. Intern. Intern. Interns are there to learn from you and to help you. They also may be aware of a new media outlet that you haven’t heard of yet. It’s the perfect relationship – you each help the other grow.

4. Outsource what you cant do/don’t like to do, otherwise you will avoid it or put it off for too long.

If bookkeeping is not your strong point, that’s just fine! You can outsource/ find a consultant. This goes for any aspect of your business. There are many people out there who know the legal stuff inside and out and are happy to do it for you.

5. It is okay to end a relationship/contract or outsource when it doesn’t feel right.

Sometimes you’re working in contract with someone and you start to see work that is not anywhere near what you expected or you just start to get a bad feeling about the relationship. Remember that it is absolutely okay to end your contract. Don’t keep going if it isn’t working.

6. Going With Your Gut

Sometimes, when you meet a potential business partner or consultant, you get a gut feeling that makes you love them and makes you want to work with them right away. BUT there are also times when you meet someone and you decide that you don’t like them, that they give you a bad feeling regardless of their credentials. You know your “gut feeling” best.

7. Every industry speaks a different language. Know the language you need to be speaking.

Every company or industry speaks has its own unique jargon. When you talk to accountants they’ll discuss Accounts Billable, while a hair stylist will go on about foils and trendy cuts. What different companies or industries do you work with? Try researching some of their jargon and technical terms. It shows them that your serious about working with them.

8. Trade services for goods.

Which is perfectly fine! If you make children’s clothes and they do marketing? Trade them! You will give them some of your clothing for them helping you with your marketing. In the beginning this is a wonderful thing to do!

9. You know exactly what you want! Don’t settle for anything but that!!

You started this company for a reason, and you will always have that goal or that image in your mind. DON’T settle or give that up! This is your dream and your business!

10. Embrace what you’re good at!

If you are amazing at selling, then sell your product! Do what makes you happy and what you love doing!!!
