SimplySoles
Summer is here. It’s time to embrace the gorgeous weather. Why not update your wardrobe with some new sandals? Having recently moved to Georgetown, SimplySoles carries top designers such as Tory Burch, Tibi, Frye, Delman, Taryn Rose, Castaner, and Chie Mihara, and is here for all your shoe needs. Though based in DC, SimplySole has a catalog and an on-line store, and ships around the world Kassie Rempel’s passion for shoes led her to open SimplySoles, recognizing that there was a shortage of stylish, chic accessories and shoe stores in the DC area. She has been featured in numerous magazines such as the Amex Trend Book 2009, FW, Shape Magazine, the Washington Post, and People Magazine. Furthermore, Rempel has been named one of the top five emerging entrepreneurs by Entrepreneur magazine, one of the 2008 Women Who Mean Business in the Washington Business Journal, and was shown on the cover of the Fortune Small Business magazine.  She designs her own sassy and luxurious shoe line, lilybee, which she sells exclusively.  Shopping at SimplySoles also helps the community- Rempel is working with a non-profit organization to help women transition from homeless shelters, jail, or drug rehabilitation programs. The Stiletto Stampede

Stand back, the “Stiletto Stampede” has begun. The Sex & the City 2 movie premieres in theaters throughout the Washington, DC area starting May 27.  However the frenzy that we experienced two years ago when we last left Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha is already reaching its peak.  The much anticipated movie sequel to the popular HBO television series is the reason for the ULTIMATE Girl’s Night Out, where we get together with our girlfriends and revisit the lives of our favorite characters. We made our list of upcoming Sex & the City events that we’ve heard about. Each event has its own flavor – fun, sassy, sophisticated, and bold.  For those of your hosting a private bash with your closest girlfriends, we’ve listed some local, SATC-themed sips & treats just for you.

The line outside of the City Shop Girl Event

First up, City Shop Girl held a look-alike/act-alike contest and fabulous movie-themed event at the Bar Dupont. 400 City Shop Girl readers sipped on signature cocktails fashioned after each SATC character, while the first Sex & the City movie played in the background. There was even a special cocktail, the Tribeca, a MOĂ‹T champagne cocktail topped with a gold ball — and for the first 70 who ordered it, the champagne flute had a free ticket to see the Sex & The City movie cleverly tucked underneath the glass. It was fun and nice event to get everyone excited for the upcoming movie. The night wasn’t complete without the Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha mini cupcakes provided by Hello Cupcake treat-filled goodie bags and some fantastic prizes overflowing with some lovely delights that any chic girl & a few of her close friends would love.  Prizes including everything from “staycations” at the Hotel Dupont  to private master classes with a professional makeup artist to exclusive shopping parties.

We had a great time. Check out City Shop Girl’s Blog to get the scoop and take a look at some of our pics from her event at Bar Dupont.

The Still Point – Serenity in the City!

TSPFrontDoorlogoWe recently spoke with Tori Paide, owner of the #1 spa in Washington, D.C., according to the readers of the Washington City Paper.  The Still Point is just that, a place where one can be “still” and enjoy some serenity in the city. Located in the quaint area of Takoma Park, MD, The Still Point offers a variety of spa services ranging from acupuncture to specialized foot treatments in “The Sole Door.”

There are many great things to love about The Still Point from the tranquil setting to the relaxing and rejuvenating treatments. They’ve been frequently featured in the Washingtonian and Daily Candy for their acupuncture happy hours among other offerings.

Another wonderful thing to note is that the products used and sold at The Still Point are all organic.  The Still Point takes great pride in offering its clients the best services, practitioners, setting and products all under one peaceful roof. There is also a room located on the upstairs level called The Gathering Place, where yoga and fitness classes and even child care are provided. The Gathering Place serves as an inspirational space that features a wall-sized mural of a fish exploring life outside of its bowl with the poignant quote, “I believe that there are other possibilities.”

The Still Point is like the “Cheers” of wellness centers, where everyone knows your name.  It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy a cup of tea, and browse for organic body products before or after enjoying acupuncture, massage, a heavenly facial or a pedicure that you’re sure to enjoy.

Treat yourself or someone you love to some quiet time @ The Still Point, a local, woman-owned treasure!

P.S. Sign up for their Weekly Treat email which offers special promotions on products and services for their clients.

We’re excited to feature The Still Point in our upcoming CRAVE DC Guide launching in the Spring 2010!
