Patricia Anne Raskin, Anne Sylvain

Patricia Anne Raskin is the Founder & Creative Director of Anne Sylvain, a line of limited edition luxury leather accessories based in Seattle. Since its launch in 2012, Anne Sylvain has been featured in luxury boutiques throughout the U.S., in local and national magazines and newspapers, and on local and international TV.

This month’s topic, “Self-care and Self-compassion” is near and dear to Patricia’s heart. Though she has been an artist since she was very young, Patricia worked for over 15 years as a corporate lawyer prior to starting Anne Sylvain. Dissatisfied and longing to fulfill her lifetime dream of pursuing her art every day, Patricia says, “Only by granting myself a very large dose of self-compassion was I able to make the switch from lawyer to designer.” Happier than ever, she has never looked back.

About the Event

It’s in those moments when our world feels like it’s spiraling out of control that we need self-care the most, but sometimes it can be difficult to pinpoint what that means exactly, then figure out how to achieve it. We know that we have to take care of ourselves through exercise, meditation, long walks, bubble baths, deep conversation, healthy meals, luxurious naps and sleeping in for an extra hour, but it is all too easy to fall into the trap of crossing self-care off of the to-do list.

To practice self-care, you must also practice self-love. Be intuitive. How are you feeling in this moment? What do you need to do to feel better, more whole? Be compassionate toward yourself and the ways you’ve, perhaps, veered away from your purpose. Forgive yourself for your mistakes. Love yourself for your resilience.

There’s a certain bravery required in taking the time to love ourselves. It’s hard to let go of the time we’ve lost to fear, insecurity, and days we’ve lost to our autopilot. But when we dig deep, the courage to love is always there.

Join us for our March Crave Fuel event as we explore what it means to LOVEyourself.

Speaker:

Nicole Kristine, Massage Therapist

Nicole is a massage therapist, so self love and self-care play a major role in her life and business. She comes from a medical family with her grandfather being a pioneer in neurology, her grandmother a nurse and two of her aunts were doctors. Health care has always just run in her blood and she’s always known she wanted to be a healer. Although western medicine is strong in Nicole’s family, she never connected to it. Then she tried a weekend program at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy and loved it! Nicole knew she had found what she wanted to do.

In the last two years, Nicole has started her own business and blog, where she can teach people about self-care on a wider scale. Also, Nicole understands that not everyone likes to get a message or can afford it, so she wanted to create a different type of outreach where she could empower everyone to take care of themselves.

Nicole’s self care slogan is “Try to do something nice for yourself everyday!”

Violet Cameron, The Organic Gladiator

While pursuing her acting carrier in 2011, Violet was diagnosed with
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer. She had undergone extensive chemotherapy and radiation to be given the all clear by doctors. Violet returned to acting only to find that the cancer had returned 8 months later. Given 30% odds of survival within a 5 year period, Violet decided to pack her bags and head to Mexico to see what Alternative Therapy had to offer. Violet has documented her findings through her health blog “Organic Gladiator”, where she shares her journey to 100% health through the power of nutrition and a positive state of well-being. She is currently working on a “How To” book for people undergoing chemo and radiation, and will competing in this year’s Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race.
