At CRAVE we’ve been thinking a lot about communication style, especially the power of storytelling. We’re wired for stories. We see ourselves in each other’s stories. It’s a great way to connect. Whether face to face, blogging, or posting on pinterest…we’re telling our story. The whole idea behind our Urban Campfire events is the connection experienced in storytelling around the campfire. Is there a story driving your business message?

About The Speakers:

Angela is the consummate strategist. She loves listening, analyzing and developing strategic ideas and plans that bring excitement and comfort to those she mentors. Angela graduated from High School at 16, received my Bachelors in Accounting at 19; and my Master’s degree in Taxation at 21.Angela is a federally licensed, IRS Enrolled Agent and maintains a former Top Secret Security clearance with SSBI. Angela has expertise in tax preparation, IRS audits, LLC business formation, bookkeeping and general organization of receipts and documents. Angela’s talents lie in organization and creating peace of mind out of chaos, including being proactive in planning for the future, and of course, making taxes and accounting FUN and understandable. Angela is a motivator and is not afraid of change along with personal and professional growth.

 

Cori RobertsCori Roberts

Cori Roberts graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree at ASU. She continues to expand her thirst for learning and loves to hike, swim, and explore. Cori received her Colon Hydrotherapy certification in 2004 and opened Holistic Waters shortly after. Gaining years of experience helping others detox and creating health goals. She now offers a wide variety classes, detox support, and holistic mentor sessions.

About the Speakers:

cathyCatharine Gately is Co-Founder and Partner at Cantadora Communications, a story-based, strategic and creative communications firm based in Washington, D.C. and Seattle, whose mission is to help clients tell stories that move the world. Cantadora’s clients include, among others: Microsoft, Starbucks, TEDx, the Human Rights Foundation, Sabey Corporation, REEL GRRLS, and CRAVE/Urban Campfire. Cathy teaches “The Strategic Art of Organizational Storytelling: Connecting Through Creative Engagement” as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Washington’s Communication Leadership Master’s program. She also teaches graduate students through UW’s Communication Leadership Independent Study, helping them create and deliver compelling TED-like talks. Earlier in her career, Cathy was a vice president at Ogilvy Public Relations and she also served in several press secretary roles on Capitol Hill. Cathy earned her Master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, and her B.A. in American Studies/Literature from Yale University. Her passion for storytelling started at an early age when she fell in love with photography and journalism. As part of her founding leadership at Cantadora, Cathy created The Cantadora Project, an annual pro bono storytelling project where her team donates time to organizations whose mission is to empower girls. Knoxy Knox has lived in austin for the past 14 years, and has loved every minute. Working as a freelance photographer for the past 8 years has led to some of the most fun and exciting experiences an artist could ask for. Clients like Barley Swine, Contigo, the Highball, Converse, Nike, PBS, fiji water, Titos Vodka and the W Hotel keep her occupied during the daylight hours. Jennifer Johnstone is President & CEO of Central City Foundation, an organization that has been working to improve the lives of neighbours in need in Vancouver’s inner city since 1907. Her career in non-profit management and community resource development has included key leadership positions with Vancity Community Foundation, Battered Women’s Support Services, Vancouver Status of Women, and Ballet British Columbia. She has also maintained a successful private consulting practice in fundraising and organizational development and is an instructor in the Fundraising Certificate Program at BCIT. An in-demand speaker about non-profit management, social purpose real estate, organizational innovation and inner-city issues, Jennifer is also a leader in the business community for her continued mentorship of women and youth. As a strategist and writer, she helps organizations manage communications issues that range from sensitive, high profile topics to publicity-driven events. Carla’s experience includes communications planning, media relations, media training, social media, facilitation, and speechwriting. Her extensive career has included work with industries from economic development to technology, from sustainability to consumer products, from mining to health, from youth to seniors, from construction to insurance. Nicole Baute has spent her entire life telling stories, both professionally and in her spare time as a creative writer. After finishing her master’s degree in journalism, she became a staff reporter at the Toronto Star, where she spent three years writing news and features. She later worked in marketing and publicity for the International Festival of Authors, spent six months as a media trainer in Ghana, West Africa, and co-edited a feisty little collection of women’s writing called EAT IT.  Zoey Duncan is a freelance writer, comedy writing teacher and roller derby player. Zoey teaches the art and science of writing jokes and embracing the comedy in life with ZEDS Comic Communication and in their Wit & Writing drop-in classes.
