CRAVEgreen Fashion Preview: The Green Chair Project

« Read the full blog

We all CRAVE cutting edge fashion, that’s why one of the most highly anticipated parts of our upcoming CRAVEgreen party is the fashion show! This unique haute couture experience will include fashions made of recycled, repurposed and organic materials. A proud participant, The Green Chair Project (TGCP)  is excited to showcase some of their own work along with featuring some of the local designers they work with. TGCP will also have a booth where you can snag some stylish pieces!

The Green Chair Project, created by Seattle artist and craftsperson Carina Manz, came to fruition in January of 2009 after years of various ideas brewing that ultimately culminated into one cohesive mission. Carina combined her lifelong passions of art and craft, salvaging materials, creating, and finding innovative ways to improve our environment and community in the development of the project. The mission of The Green Chair Project is to provide artists with the tools necessary to be successful in one’s craft, while simultaneously encouraging environmental responsibility.

The multiple facets of The Green Chair Project include-

  • Artist Studios- 5 small studios (built nearly entirely out of salvaged materials!), available for lease to eco-minded creators.
  • Gift Shop- Where both in-house and other local artists sell their eco-friendly, handmade wares.
  • Community Workspace- Offering community resources and supplies, and educational workshops that teach DIY techniques in sustainability.
