About Our Speakers

Alexandra Suhner Isenberg

Alexandra Suhner Isenberg is the voice behind the Searching for Style blog, and an accomplished fashion designer and writer. She was born in Vancouver but moved to Paris in her teens to study at the famous haute couture school, Écoles de la Chambre Syndicale. She went on to become a designer at Sonia Rykiel, a post she held for nearly two years. Alexandra then relocated to London to do her Masters at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Alexandra stayed in London for ten years, and after completing her MA, she worked as a designer for Burberry. She then started a luxury lingerie brand, State of Undress, with a fellow Canadian, which was stocked in some of the world’s best department stores and featured on the pages of magazines like Vogue, Elle, and Sunday Times Style. Alexandra spent her final years in London as a trend forecaster, working for various European and North American agencies, as well as a luxury consultant and a fashion lecturer at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, and London College of Fashion (both of which are considered to be amongst the top five fashion schools around the world.) She recently completed a book on Technical Drawing for Fashion, published by Pepin Press, which will be released in late 2010.

Alexandra returned to Vancouver in September 2009 and has continued to work as a lecturer at local fashion design schools as well as writing a successful fashion blog, www.searchingforstyle.com. She is also fashion editor at Vitamin Daily and continues to do consultancy work for a select group of clients.
